Imerjent Announces Sale of Biodiesel
Processing System to Pendleton Grain Growers
Wilsonville, OR –
Imerjent LLC is pleased to announce the sale of an automated
biodiesel processing system to Pendleton Grain Growers
(PGG), Inc. Canola seed grown by PGG members will be
converted to oil in PGG’s crushing equipment and
converted to biodiesel in Imerjent’s modular factory,
supplying Oregon consumers with Oregon-grown and produced
biodiesel.
PGG is focused on creating a sustainable oilseed industry
in the State of Oregon. “To be truly sustainable,
we must create opportunities for local producers to
capture a portion of the value added processes. Production
of biodiesel using locally grown oilseeds is an important
step in creating this value chain allowing more of our
energy dollars to remain here in Oregon,” said
Al Gosiak, President of Pendleton Grain Growers, Inc.
The system is complete and ready for shipment to PGG’s
Pendleton, Oregon site and will begin biodiesel production
within weeks of its installation. The modular system,
capable of producing 500,000 gallons of biodiesel per
year, was built into a standard shipping container in
Imerjent’s Wilsonville factory. “We have
invested a great deal of time and effort examining the
opportunities in producing biodiesel. The automated
system designed by Imerjent is an elegant solution for
sustainable distributed production,” said Kendal
Zerba, Chairman of the Board, Pendleton Grain Growers,
Inc.
Imerjent’s biodiesel processing systems, sized
from 500,000 to 4MGY, illustrate a distributed energy
model, where costs are minimized by locating appropriately
sized systems near the source of feedstock or the consumers
of fuel. "This project embodies our vision of distributed
fuel production in action. We are proud to have been
selected by PGG and see this project as the first of
many installations for Imerjent’s systems in the
region." said Eric Price, Founder and CEO of Imerjent.
“We look forward to working with PGG to complete
what will be a landmark biofuels project for the state
of Oregon,” said David Handaly, Senior Vice President
of Imerjent. “This project will augment the foundations
of an emerging biofuels industry in a state that is
known for its leadership in environmental issues.”
